Global Corporate Social Responsibility Program

Building Lasting Relationships With The Community

We recognise the need to contribute

As part of the tdglobal’s Global Corporate Social Responsibility Program, the South African entity has embarked on a new initiative with certain underprivileged communities. We continue to recognise the need to contribute to the upliftment of community members apart from job creation. It is important to us to continue having a positive and lasting impact in our community. We have endeavoured to continually seek out initiatives that will have a significant impact not only on the recipients but on society at large.

In society, people living with physical and mental disabilities are not afforded the same opportunities and may not enjoy the same standard of living as the rest of society. Society tends to hide or even ignore people with disabilities. We heard about the work being done by the Tumelo Home for the physically and mentally handicapped and we believe that we could contribute to their mission. "Tumelo" meaning Faith has truly been given back to its residents. The children in the Tumelo Home may have been much less fortunate had they remained in the environments they were rescued from filled with neglect and abuse.

Food security is one of the leading problems in South Africa and this has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Helping people is part of our DNA and we knew we had to lend a helping hand and assist the home fight this problem. We have engaged in an ongoing relationship with Tumelo Home, and we have made a pledge to donate monthly groceries. To nourish the children will be to nourish the future of our country.

As part of our new relationship with Tumelo Home, we felt it was important to get to know the children and not just the management team. On the 6th of May 2022 we hosted the Tumelo Home Fun Day. The aim of the event was to introduce the tdglobal staff to the children and have them interact with the kids and give the Tumelo Home children a day just for them. This was a day dedicated to the children and making sure that they have fun. Especially following the last two years of stress and lack of human interaction, tdglobal wanted the children to feel loved, appreciated and wanted.

The team organised a day filled with fun activities for the children including a delicious braai, jumping castles and face painting. The children enjoyed the surprises in their party packs and a big, tasty cake just for them. The day was full of singing and posing for the camera to show off their beautiful faces, painted with butterflies, flowers and rainbows. Fun was the goal and fun was truly had by both the young and the old.

tdglobal is very proud and privileged to have been able to host this event at the Tumelo Home and we will continue to support them under our Global Corporate Social Responsibility Program. Furthermore, we endeavour to seek out additional likeminded initiatives and look forward to fruitful relationships in the future.
